much better regulation is needed those kelp beds are vital to many species in bc
Yes, get a grip on it right away, don’t jump in and clear the place out, it’s cover for lots of species.
Yes start the needed regulation now to keep our ecosystems healthy.
How much more regulation can you have than every potential piece in existence?
In 1978 I worked for the Ministry of the Environment, Marine Resources Branch. I was part of a very exhaustive study that took place in Port Hardy. Dozens of divers, scientists, sample harvesters and support staff took part for an entire summer. It was a very large and expensive study. After all that, it was determined that the "Kelp Based Food Web" habitat was too vital to the marine eco-system to grant harvesting licences. What happened to that wisdom?
Hmmm regulations sounds like a money grab. They are making sure the small timers get regulated out, just like everywhere else. I'm curious what kind of damage farming kelp can do?? Can someone educate me on what would happen if there will be tonnes more kelp? I hear fish like it and live in it.....
Yes because we all know what happened with fish farms.
We need more of them to spread in the ocean inlets where there are salmon the feed on kelp I nave seen themfeeding while looking Down through the kelp beds while I was out fishing for salmon. Bye for now chears Ed janak also know as Eddie the eagle 161 on Instagram I live in Parksville bc with my beautiful wife molly in a apartment just for seniors only just a couple blocks away from the orange bridge west of are apartment
Your video is beautiful. It is nice to see that you plant back. Out of curiosity, though, do you plant more, or less, than what you take in? Sea life really depends on the kelp forests
In our part of the world( British Columbia) the kelp forests are in decline. These are needed to support the incredible biomass of the undersea world. Should not be harvested here
i hope you enjoy your kelp after victoria dump sewer into the ocean for years. nothing like shit in your garden. yum f fluence todays fix. i am so ashamed of being a part of the human chain.
I sure hope the job includes restorative surplus planting too
The video on your website is out of this world!
You guys do an amazing job, would love to go out with you one day and help you harvest
Farmers plant crops. They don't just harvest.
Inspiring video! I really want to get back out there, maybe go offshore again when my neck injuries get fully treated with stem cells.
I have an out-of-print book called Sailing the Farm. Last week’s Bluewater Cruising Association monthly slideshow talked sea veggies like kelp chips.
I worry about industrial & university/school liquid waste not treated properly by sewage, and a few lazy stupid boaters who dump contaminants into the ocean. Is there testing for contaminants like that done for mercury in tuna?
What a amazing video, you are accomplishing so much.🌿💥🌿
